Floor paint is an option that allows you to renovate pavements without major works, or to paint concrete or mortar to use with better performance, pavement paints are easy to apply and there are different types of paints, both interior and exterior. When choosing a paint for floors, different considerations must be taken into account: -Requirements and needs of the new pavement: If it is an interior or exterior space, the needs of resistance to wear, traffic, scratching, etc ... -Current status of the Support: Material of which it is formed (concrete, asphalt, tile, etc. ...), state in which it is found (new, old, irregularities, chips, cracks, etc ...) and level of contamination (dust, grease, oils, etc ...) We can find several types of paints for pavements: -Paints based on epoxy resins such as Epoais Pin and Epoais Vinícola. Epoxy resin-based paints are two-component, base and catalyst. They are waterproof paints, generally with very good chemical resistance, high resistance to abrasion and scratching. They also have good antimicrobial behavior, which means that they are used with good results in food industries and in spaces where food is processed. They can suffer discoloration when exposed to UV rays, so it is recommended for indoor use or protection with aliphatic polyurethane if it is going to be used outdoors. The most common places where we can find these floor paints are: Industrial areas, offices, parking lots, restaurants, warehouses, canneries ... -Paints made of polyurethane resins have good resistance to abrasion and scratching due to their good hardness. They are products of two components, base and catalyst. They are paints with a certain flexibility, which makes them more resistant to impacts than other paints with resins such as epoxy. They also have a good behavior in a wide range of temperatures, they behave well both at high and low temperatures. Depending on the polyurethane resin that forms a paint in this category, it will be resistant to a greater or lesser degree to UV radiation. Aliphatic resins, such as those present in 80/20 Polyurethane, present high resistance to UV rays, whereas paints composed of aromatic resins such as Paviais AC are recommended for indoor use due to the discoloration that they may suffer when exposed. to UV radiation. -Chlorine rubber paints, these products have very good resistance to water and abrasion, they can present deterioration problems with certain hydrocarbons but they are very resistant to chlorine, which makes them especially suitable paints for exposed spaces such as swimming pools and their environment. They have the advantage of being single-component paints, which makes application easy. We can also find other categories of floor paints, such as acrylic paints, less used for their durability in general is much less than those mentioned above. At Teais we have our Pinlurris paint, a water-based paint based on acrylic resins that is used as a decorative finishing layer for our eslurris pavement and on concrete surfaces, asphalt and sports courts, etc.
